I was attracted to the small fallen branches that seemed to be running away from the large tree. It was snowing very hard while I was taking the picture, and that makes the distant cliffs and trees faded and less distracting. I must admit that seeing this composition is partly due to the influence of Ray McSavaney's "Walking Trees", also taken in Yosemite. The small branches on the ground look like a child running from it's parent. The large tree branches seem to be trying to catch the child and bring it back. At least that is what I see in this image.
