This is one of the latest images I have taken of the Mesquite Dunes in Death Valley National Park. I had seen this beautiful dune from the distance when I first got on to the dunes, and headed towards it. It took about 30 minutes to get close enough to it to photograph. The lighting was perfectly shadowing half the dune, so I shot the dune "head-on" to accentuate the lighting. I also like the two dunes going off into the ditance behind it. The foreground has several differently-shadowed layers, that gives some added depthand interest to the image.
