Grass Hummocks in Merced

This image is much different from the actual scene, much more mysterious, with the background printed down. I printed the background darker to make it less distracting and to emphasize the real subjects, the "hairy" looking mounds of grass in the Merced river. The Merced was low because it was winter and before the Spring runoffs raised the water above these mounds. I have been told that the scene looks like you are in a dark cave, with the large rock in the water the cave opening to the outside world. I like that interpretation of the image. I also like the reflections of the grass mounds that make them seem to float in the water.
