Reflections, Lake Hodges, CA
This the second of two photographs I took of Lake Hodges on a cold morning. A friend and I slept overnight in an unheated, uninsulated van so that we could photograph at first light, while the ground fog was still present. I think this image alone was worth the effort! This image was taken after most of the ground fog had dissipated over the lake. Since the wind had not kicked up yet the dead tree branches were being reflected beautifully in the water. I wanted the branches to be black and stand out from the hills in the background, to give the image depth. The ripples in the water give the image a painterly look.
