I found this composition of kelp and seaweed on the beach in Big Sur. Photographs I have seen of seaweed and leaves by Bret Weston influenced me to take this image. I love the way Bret Weston could get a "silvery" color in his black and white images of leaves, ferns and seaweed. The strong lines and textures of the seaweed in this composition are what attracted me to this image.
