Young Tree in Snow
It was the morning after a 2-foot snowfall in the Yosemite Valley, and everything seemed quite unreal. I was walking along the road to the stables when I saw this small tree covered in fresh snow. Just as I was about to take the picture, the sun crept over the tree, giving the scene much needed contrast and brightness, but the light changed my shutter speed. The juxtaposition of the small tree and the three large black barks in the background make a good counterpoint in the image. For me, the small tree symbolized the whole valley on that morning. The snow melted off the trees in a surprisingly short amount of time.
