Cook's Meadow
I was photographing in the late afternoon in the meadows below Lower Yosemite Falls when I noticed the backlit leaves of these trees. It is always difficult to get the detail in backlit leaves and the shadowed tree trunks in the foreground to make this kind of image work. The opening made by the foreground tree trunks leads the viewer into the image, to the backlit trees beyond. The tree trunk shadows falling on the grass in the foreground contribute to the sense of depth in this image.
