Half Dome in Fog

I wanted to make a picture of Half Dome that did not look like the many I have seen. Normally, Half Dome dominates the photograph. This morning was perfect to use Half Dome as a background to the silhouetted trees in the ground fog. Seeing a familiar subject in a very famous place in a different light (if you will allow the pun), is one of the advantages of coming back many times. The first time I go to a new area, I am afraid I will be taking my pictures at the "Kodak Spots". And these spots are very spectacular and photogenic (or else they wouldn't be "Kodak Spots"). But if you want to photograph these popular areas in a unique way, you need get past the obvious spots and explore in all kinds of light, and seasons, and times of the day, and seasons of the year.
