Tuolumne Meadows in Spring

I was photographing in Tuolumne Meadows in the Spring sometime after a snowstorm had come by, leaving snow on the distant mountains. It was a cold, blustery day while I was taking this image, making it difficult to keep the 4x5 view camera steady. What I like about this composition is the contrast of the bright area of snow near the shadow area in the distance, as well as the fact that the grass shapes in the foreground complement the cloud shapes in the distance. This is one of my most popular images over the years.
