This image was taken in December and there was an inversion taking place in the Grand Canyon, just a little ways beyond the main viewing area where this image was taken, on the South Rim.The yellow cliffs in the foreground have interesting shapes, like pillows, and the color contrast with the red rock in the distance gives this image its depth.
